The Ingredients of a Novel

November 20 | 19:00 - 21:00

Tiree All Ages Workshop History, Scottish Writers, Travel

Author Merryn Glover’s debut, A House Called Askival, spans 70 years of India’s troubled history, from Partition to the present day. As three generations of an American missionary family are caught up in the conflicts around them, their lives are marked by tragedy, rebellion and guilt. Is reconciliation possible, and what is the price of forgiveness? In this presentation, Glover shares the story behind the story and how she came to write a novel that includes a doomed boarding school musical, 100 beetles and an extraordinary cookbook!
