Miss Blaine's Prefect and the Golden Samovar: The Creme de la Creme of Crime

November 22 | 19:00 - 21:00

Balloch Adults Panel Event / Author Reading Crime

Miss Blaine's Prefect and the Golden Samovar is a comedy crime novel which has been compared to Jane Austen, Stella Gibbons and Wodehouse for its satirical wit. It fuses lots of different elements - Russia, crime, school and even time travel into a comic rollercoaster ride of adventure. The Marcia Blaine school has developed a time travel system so that its students can help to make the world a better place all through time. Shona McMonagle is especially chosen for a mysterious mission in 19th century Russia, and as she tries to pair up the beautiful, shy, orphaned heiress Lidia Ivanovna with Sasha, a gorgeous young man of unexplained origins, things go increasingly awry and the body count increasingly mounts up. Olga Wojtas is a very welcome addition to the extraordinary pantheon of Scottish crime writers, and this is a great opportunity to see her as she becomes a major star! She is a great reader of her own work and this will be a thoroughly entertaining evening.
