Exploring the Evolution of Chinese Vocabulary Through Diagram Making

November 21 | 18:00 - 19:30

Glasgow Adults Workshop Illustration / Art, Translation, World Languages

This is a sharing workshop which will explore the development of significant Chinese vocabulary. We will trace the origins of three words, selected by Ricefield community members, from notable Chinese short stories, presented in bilingual format, examining their cultural significance and relationship with translation. This knowledge will then inform our discussion, associations and the creation of experimental diagrams which will consider the impact of contemporary vocabulary usage. Each participant will receive a personalised booklet of Chinese text, and develop skills in creative diagram making. This is open to anyone with an interest in Chinese language, and Chinese learners with beginner reading skills are very welcome.
